Antique pale indigo tsutsugaki noren
This is a lovely pale indigo cotton noren with a large ivy (tsuta) kamon and a delicate bamboo design. In tsutsugaki textiles the design is been drawn on with a rice paste resist using a tsutsu (like a piping bag) before dyeing. It is 167cm long and is in good condition but has some discolouration/marks. This may have started life as a futon cover and been repurposed at some point as a noren - the casing and tabs aren't original. It dates from late 19th - early 20th century.
