There is a long tradition in Japan of drawstring bags in a variety of shapes and sizes. This simple design made from strips of fabric was often used  for taking offerings of rice or beans to temples or shrines. This bag is made from kimono and kimono lining  remnants and is lined with an aged plain lining.   There are some marks and a little wear on some panels.  The sides panels are 19cm long and the base is 17cm x 17cm.
