Nakahara Junichi Itomaki Thread Bobbins

 Set of three  itomaki thread bobbins with Nakahara Junichi illustrations. These have a fine metal base with printed paper designs attached . They measure 58mm x 58mm and were used to hold silk or cotton thread for hand stitching. They probably date from the 1950s and are in ok but not perfect condition. 

Nakahara Junichi was an extremely prolific and influential designer, illustrator and publisher through much of the mid- 20th century  - before, during and after  WW2.  His very charming and distinctive style  was  a major influence on later manga,  anime and the kawaii  ('cute') aesthetic,
